It has been a very busy month since Kaleidoscope so I haven't had time to post to the blog; I am going to try to keep more current.
This week marked my one year anniversary of logging my mileage on GasFreeCommute.com. Here is how I did despite being bikeless for several weeks when I broke my bike frame and had several more weeks where I was out of town at events such as Oracle Open World and Kaleidoscope.
Total Distance: 2,572.50 miles
Total Calories Burned: 101379
Total Greenhouse Gas emissions not created: 2499 pounds
Most of these miles were using a daily estimate of miles but I recently got a bike computer so I could track it more accurately. The real reason for the computer, though, is so I could see how fast I was actually going.. I routinely hit 37+ mph on my way to work and 38+ on my way home as it is a bigger downhill run. It certainly adds some excitement to my day.
BTW, back to Hyperion topics as early as tomorrow. I recently wrote an article for ODTUG Technical Journal about the Hyperion Sunday Symposium at Kaleidoscope in Monterey and I plan to start posting it in a two or three part series.
